I believe that people are different. Our differences make us who we are; as an individual, group or a community. We are all unique in our own special ways. What makes me unique? It is not the food I eat, the cloth I wear or the bed I lay to pass my long tiring day. So, why am I unique?
I am not unique because I defied my family’s wish to be an “Almoodo” I am unique because I fought my way through school and here I am today in my final year in university.
I am not unique because I am a Gambian or an African. I am unique because I consider myself as a citizen of the world willing to sacrifice my last breath to ensure that all women and children are treated equally, as humans and not object to be abused. I am unique because I am a campaigner for social and economic equality.
I am a visionary at heart, always seeking new and exciting opportunities. I am passionate about life, I thrive upon a challenge and I have little tolerance for negativity or excuses.
Finally, unlike my friends and colleagues, I care less; the color of my shirt, the shoe I wear be it slippers or sandals as long as it fits, whether I am “mboyo” or not. I am unique because of my self esteem and confidence to take up life as each minute passes by. I am unique because I am Sait Matty Jaw.
